The involvement of an academic institution in the community in the narrow aspect, and in the broader world, has positive social implications. The dissemination of academic knowledge serves as a tool for narrowing disparities between different groups in the population.
Today's agriculture is based, among other things, on broad biological knowledge and life sciences research, which have many implications for everyday life. The Faculty strives to make available to decision makers and to the public the accumulated knowledge of the faculty, expressing the values of environmental conservation, healthy eating habits, intelligent consumption and scientific curiosity. The faculty reaches out to different population strata in order to narrow social gaps and expand horizons, thus enriching both individuals and society at large in Israel.
In addition to its activities in Israel, out of a sense of mission and social commitment, the Faculty supports international projects in developing countries. The awareness that knowledge accumulated in Israel can make a significant contribution to improving nutrition throughout the world has led to the devlopment of successful and respected projects.
In many cases, projects for the benefit of the community have involved collaboration with researchers from other academic institutions, organizations and foundations, as well as government agencies.
Community activities are conducted by researchers, students and volunteers of the Faculty of Agriculture. They are directed to adults, and also to youth in the framework of youth science enrichment programs and experiential activities.
