A study led by Dr. Oren Pe'er, Dr. Lionel Sabag and Prof. Ron Ofri ot the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine found that penciclovir cream, which is used to treat cold sores in humans, is also safe and effective for treating feline eye infections.

The findings, published in Veterinary Science, open the way to a simple and available therapeutic approach to improving the health of cats suffering from the disease.
