A new study by Prof. Gila Kahila Bar-Gal of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine presents the use of genetics approaches to solve complex environmental crimes such as poisoing and illegal hunting, even when the findings are partial or contain several species mixed together.
Through accurate DNA tests and genetic databases, it is possible to identify individual animals, establish where they came from, and connect the evidence to a criminal act.
The study was pulished in Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution.
