Obesity in Dogs May Also Affect Their Eye Health

A new study led by Dr. Oren Pe’er of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine found that obesity in dogs is associated with an increase in intraocular pressure, a factor in the development of glaucoma.

The study, whose co-authors also include Dr. Michal Mazaki Tovi, Dr. Lionel Sebbag, and Prof. Ron Ofri, found that any increase in weight was accompanied by an increase in eye pressure.

The study was published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
